Full of squeeey goodness

I'm going to write up my Twilight experience before I read  eibbil_libbie and rainpuddle13 's posts.  I'm pretty sure I'll have to come back and edit to express my agreement with them.  Spoilers behind the cut so beware if you haven't seen the movie.

The first thing that struck me in the opening sequence was how beautiful and green it is in Forks.  Of course, I was sad for the deer but I'll get over it.  I hadn't been much of a Kristen Stewart fan before this movie.  But I must say she did a pretty good job.  It may have been fueled by chemistry with Robert (and who the heck would blame her) but I liked her version of Bella for the most part.  I fell in love with Billy Burke (Charlie) in this movie.  And I just looked up a picture of him without the 'stach - one word - YUM!  I loved his Charlie.  The scene in the police station after Port Angeles was so touching.  And of course the gun cleaning scene was cliche but funny anyway.  I was pleased by the meadow scene and sparkle effect.  It was pretty.  They just didn't keep his shirt open long enough.  I thought Robert did an amazing job as Edward.  Every little nuance of his expression was spot on perfect.  And of course, he was beyond beautiful.  *sigh*  The other high school students (with the exception of the kid who played Angela) were highly annoying to me.  But I think they did that on purpose to provide contrast to the maturity of Bella and the Cullens.  The actors did a decent job with the limited screen time they got.   I liked Jacob and Billy too.  Billy's lines cracked me up.  And that look he gave Edward when they passed in the cars scared the crap out of me.  He definitely let the audience glimpse the Billy we get to know better in the books.  Taylor did a good job as Jacob.  The hair was too obviously a wig for my taste but his smile (so like how I imagined it in the books) was dead on.  I'll look forward to his development in the next films (which they can hurry up and start making, thx).  The Port Angeles scene was so intense.  It was one of Robert's strongest scenes.  And the stunt driving was incredible.  That was one spot where I squeed out loud.  The restaurant scene was awesome.  But what the heck with the waitress' hair?  That was completely weird.  More Robert goodness in that scene.  The kissing scene in Bella's room was definitely hot.  Makes me look forward to Breaking Dawn.  *evil grin*  No way they're going to get that made without an R rating.  But that's ok with me.  All of the Cullens were great!  The flashback scenes were way too short and gauzy for me.  I would have liked to see more of that but then the movie would have been 3 hours long (which actually, would have been fine to me).  Maybe they'll do an extended version for the DVD.  Kellan was a perfect Emmett.  He has a great mischevious grin.  Rosalee was perfectly hateful - Nikki was right on tone with her.  Ashley portrayed Alice as a little brasher than I imagined but was still very likeable.  I'll look forward to seeing more of her in the next movies.  Jackson was good as showing Jasper's pain.  The look in his eyes made me almost hurt for him.   Peter was so amazing as Carlisle.  Next to Robert, his was my favorite performance.  Elizabeth was a perfect Esme.  I knew she would be.  I've liked her a lot from her Grey's Anatomy role.  The baseball scene was another that I was nervous about but they surpassed my expectations.  It was so fun to watch that scene.  I may have to put surround sound in my living room before it comes out on DVD so I can fully experience it at home.  I like how suddenly the villans came on scene.  The timing on all of that was excellent.  Loved Cam the moment he came on screen.  The three of them were definitely imposing figures.  Loved Victoria's line about having a wicked curve ball.  The pace of the escape and waiting in Phoenix was excellent.  I was wondering how they were going to get through that part without rushing it or boring the heck out of us.  I think Catherine balanced it quite well.  And of course, the ballet studio scene was amazing.  I was surprised that they let us see the brutality of killing James but it was handled quite well.  I LOVE that it was Alice that ripped James' head off.  And except for the whole eye crossing at the end of it, Kristin was very believably in excruciating pain.  I'm not quite sure how I liked the transition from the studio to the hospital.  I think I need to see it again to decide.  Kristin's panic attack in the hospital when she thinks Edward is going to leave her was heartbreaking.  She did that very well.  I'm not liking Bella's mother that much though.  Maybe just because I pictured her very differently.  The prom scenes were a great ending after the climax of the ballet studio.  I really liked how they fit Jacob into the scene.  It seems more natural for him to be outside the prom and to disappear into the trees.  Of course, the gazebo scene was perfectly intense.  Another example of excellent Rob/Kristen chemistry.  All in all - I was completely satisfied with the movie.  I want to see it at least one more time in the theatre (preferably at a more decent hour).  I'm very thankful that they're going to make the rest of the books.  These actors have a lot more talent to show us.

I apologize if I jumped around too much in my post.  It's going to be a stream-of-consciousness kind of day.  I am completely exhausted.  I had to work hard to force myself out of bed.  I'll probably be asleep by 9 tonight.  But it was soooo worth it.  I had a great time with my friend Tracy at the show.  The people in the theatre were perfectly enthusiastic without being distracting.  Of course, we were all enthralled with the movie once each character had made an appearance and we got our squeeing and clapping out of the way.  I was just completely thrilled with the movie.  Oh!  And I want to ask.  What Harry Potter trailer was in front of the movie for you?  It wasn't the new one in my theatre.  It was the long one that had little Voldie in it a bunch that came out a while ago.  I thought it was supposed to be the brand new one.  *pouts*  It was still good to see it on a movie screen though.
