I've traveled for work quite a few times now and it was never as pleasurable as i thought or hoped it would be. On one hand, sure, you might be in an interesting place you'd never otherwise get to visit. On other hand, even when you are off the clock you're expected to socialize with colleagues, and if you don't socialize then you're still trying to fit a vacation into very tiny slivers of time that in your normal life are usually spent zonked out watching TV or something undemanding so you can still perform at work the next day. Add on top of that you're invariably housed up in the largest, most generic, boring hotel that could possibly exist, and rarely in the kind of area you'd choose to stay if you were traveling alone. So... it's not nothing, but it's also nowhere near as good as getting a fat paycheck at home and then traveling to the exotic location on your own pace.
