Breaking Dawn: The Emotional Aftermath

Aug 03, 2008 18:45

Since I realize not everyone's finished the book, I'm going to keep my thoughts behind cuts. I can't stop thinking about it, and I come to more conclusions and realizations as time passes. So forgive my choppy and incongruent posts that are sure to follow.

I can't shake the feelings and thoughts after reading this book. This is one of the most ( Read more... )

Ok, I'm one chapter in ... ONE!!! I can't believe you've read the whole book! OMG! WOW! Girl, did you eat or stop to sleep this weekend? *giggle*

I'll read this once I've read the book, but I'm afraid for me, that's going to be about a month. You know I'm a "relish every word" type ;)

LOL!!! Jeff makes fun of me because I'm a speed reader. I've actually done quite a bit this weekend besides that, but I was always peing pulled back to read more. I just couldn't put it down. LOL

THen again, I do have more free time than you do! I would be going nuts if I had to sit at work all day thinking about it. (hugs)

You're good to relish it. And I'm almost wishing I'd taken it in small doses. It's intense, and there's a lot going on, so take your time. Yes. Enjoy it.

I have to say that I do like it now that I'm done. I can't wait to talk about some of it when you're ready, too.

Hugs, sweetie!!!!

I agree with you for the most part but I hated it. I got bored last night and couldn't finish reading until this afternoon. I dunno... I guess it had alot to do with how the twists made me feel too. I wasn't prepared to venture down that road because I didn't read the spoilers and wasn't expecting a darker perspective.

I have this empty feeling like something is missing. I got to the very last page and thought, "That's it? This is what I've been waiting nearly two months for?" I wanted Stephanie to take a different route with BD, I didn't want Bella to turn. If it had to come down to it though, I thought it would have been an act of love too, not something so morbidly depressing.

What was with calling Japser "Jazz"? Ugh!

OMG!!! I feel the same way. I've got that really heavy feeling in the pit of my stomach that just won't go away. In fact, I just hid in the bathroom and bawled for a few minutes. It's like even though there was a happy ending, there was so much pain throughout the whole story, that I can't get happy!!!!

There was just too much pain.

And yes, your comment about that "something's missing" feeling...right on! The happy moments were too few and far between. And like I said, the whole Nessie plotline took too much away from the central theme of the love story.

And yeah...."Jazz"...I guess he's big pimpin' now! LOL

OH, and PS....SM never really addressed the whole issue Edward used to harp on, and that was Bella's soul. We barely heard a word about it in this book!!!

While I'm actually glad she's in eternity with Edward, I also thought it would be cool to have found a way to give him back his mortality. (I know...it's a stretch, but then so is the whole freaking story!!! LOL)

I knew it was a stretch but the entire book was like you said. I dunno... we never learned anything new about the characters, they seemed to be lost in pain. I'm not convinced Jacob got his happy ending, I would have rather him imprint on Leah. Ugh.

I'm getting more disappointed each time I read what someone else has to say about the book.

Jen, first I love you!! Second, I have about 200 pages left so I didn't read your entire entry b/c I knew it would give some stuff away that I haven't read but the first part and about the pregnancy I TOTAL AM WITH YOU GIRL!!! I feel the exactly same way (no surprise there...you are my bff for a reason)! it's so nice to know that I'm not the only one feeling this way! And I have to admit that I miss the romance between E and B like the other 3 books. This book was just soooooo different or has been thus far! I did like the humor from Jacob towards his dogs and towards Rose. I got a kick out of that! I'll post again when i'm done! I brought the book with me to work! LMAO

**spoiler** One more thing...when Bella went to the Cullens to get ready and Alice said we have 10 hours til the wedding then all of a sudden it was time to walk down the asle I knew this book was off! Then there was no coversation between E & B on the way to Isle Esmee! WTF??? This is not like the other books where there was full of conversation between these 2 characters! At that point I felt off! Did someone else write this book b/c it certainly didn't feel like an SM book! Okay, I'm going away til I finish...promise!! :-)

I agree with you, 100%!!!

I had forgotten about the silence on the way to the honeymoon. And it felt like their having sex was too much of a chore at that point. I would have much rather it been with them getting swept up in the moment. I know Edward was worried, but gheesh....where was ANY romance? I mean, Bella waited all that time for THAT?!?!?!? UGH!

I'm still feeling the onslaught of pain these characters went through. I won't give anything away till you've read it, but just buckle up...that's all I'll say.

Hugs, girl. I love you, too!!!!! With all my heart!!!! *cries*

Allie...I'm glad you loved the book so much! I'm not saying i don't like it...I just have a lot of questions and reservations about the direction in which she took the story.

I've been on emotional overload for the last few days and it's finally starting to settle a bit. So I'm still making up my mind about things as I go.

I'm with you, though...the wedding scene was just amazing...so romantic. I would have loved for her to expand on it even more!!! *sigh* And I'm dying to see what Bella's dress looked like, too.

Hope your new position in the deli is going well!!!! Hugs and best wishes on that! :)
