Stuck here in FORKS.....

Aug 19, 2008 10:22

Dear Mom,

Everything's fine here in Forks. It's been raining every day, non-stop. I don't think I've seen the sun in a week and my skin is turning some strange ashen color. Sadly, there's no relief in sight from the rain, as it's expected to continue for the next several days. Please send Dad my love. Miss you both.

Love, Jenni

P.S. Please send ( Read more... )

It's been raining incessently here for weeks too. Although I hate the sunshine (I'd really love to move somewhere like Forks), so I'm the only one not moaning about it, lol.

My journal titles are easy. They're all quotes from the play I nicked my username from. Which is probably a bit boring of me. I may have to see to that....

Oh, and you're doing better than me with this layout. I had it laoded at my test journal for ages because I liked the no-sidebar design, but I could never get a header to load with it, or figure out why it wouldn't.

I think your journal is LOVELY! In fact, yours is one of the ones that inspired me to change mine to something more creative.

I'm totally techno-stupid, so I'm not sure if I'll have any more luck than you had. Yikes! I tried to work on the colors a bit this morning, but messed it up.

Question, though: Is it odd that there's no navigation bar at the top? I checked the appropriate boxes on the page, but still nada. Gack!

You're funny about the rain. But it IS quite beautiful, to be honest. Ironically, my parents-in-law just bought a summer home in the Orcas Islands, not too far from the Forks area!! How funny is that? (We have not been to visit yet, but can't wait. I hear it's gorgeous.)

I know some layouts override the nav strip - you might have to look for the command in the CSS and see if you can turn it on that way, although I've no idea what the command might be (nav.bar/strip: disable or something, probably). That's why I always end up sticking with the layout I've got now - it's the only one I really understand, lol.

I've always been a winter person, although turning the fans on in the summer and watching the cats stare avidly at them as they move is not without its amusement. You definitely need to visit the in-laws and make a detour to Forks :D. I know someone made the trip and went to all the places mentioned in the books, and they said that everywhere there were signs welcoming Twilight fans.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*THUD*

I DID IT!!!!!

I have no idea how I pulled that off! LMAO! But it was YOUR suggestion that helped!!!

*squishes with hugs*

WOW! I think it was listed in there as "control strip". I just deleted the whole section that commanded to turn "off"...and held my breath! LOL

Oh! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was from an episode of Burn Notice. Sam's (Bruce Campbell's character) bullet-proof vest was being put on the guy that they were protecting and Fiona told the protectee that the vest smelled like Old Spice and Bourbon. I thought it was a great line and had to steal it.

Its also funny in two ways because Bruce Campbell used to do Old Spice commercials ;)

Think of song lyrics, lines from movies....inspiration ca come from anywhere.

Oh yeah! That's neat! I'll have to check into that show.

Just about every man in my family wears Old Spice. It just doesn't get much better than that! *sigh*

Okay, so how did you come up with "justlikemagic"?

From Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets...after Lockhart has been memory-wiped and is flying out of the Chamber holding Fawkes the Phoenix's tail, he is shouting "Amazing! Amazing! This is just like magic!" I had to steal it ;)

I'm about to float away and then maybe that party barge will get some use! **shakes fist into the air** Ray and I are thinking of moving in a year further down south (closer to LadyB lol) and the thought of it makes my stomach hurt! Don't ask me why...it's the change and being unsettled! But anyway, I'll get into that later!!

Love you sweetie!! Let me know if you find out anything!

I love that Foo Fighters song! And your layout looks AWESOME. Do you know what banner you're going to use?

My banner: I think I told you I ganked a photo of Jeff Buckley (one of my very favorite singers, sniffle) sitting in front of a wall that had wings painted on it, and I manipulated the light quality so his eyes were darkened. Thus he became a winged version of Morpheus, or Dream, from my favorite graphic novel series The Sandman, by Neil Gaiman (one of my favorite writers). I suppose he could also be Crowley (a demon who, if I recall correctly, DOES have wings) from Good Omens, also by Neil Gaiman. ;) The quote, obviously, is from the song Dream a Little Dream, which I thought was appropriate for the overlord of the dream world. :)

Aw, shucks. *blush* :)

Actually, I must confess: it was luck that I found the photo and a mistake when I was tweaking the light and color ratios on LiveQuartz, lol. When I saw the darkened eyes I was like, "OH! Morpheus!!" It all kind of came together. :D

I wonder if there's any connection between this Morpheus and the like-named character in the Matrix series.
