...Someday, I shall remember where my Creativity Demons picked up that snippet of song, and procure a copy for my own sanity. Until then, it seems to be their standard audio response when we're feeling overwhelmed with projects. @_@;
Construction is doing well.
- The thermostat and switchplate have been moved off my eventual-TV-wall, and bracers, power, and an open port/fish line have been put in place so that when I eventually purchase a wall-mounted LCD to replace the 4-foot-tall behemoth of a CRT currently monopolizing the living room, all of the power/cable/DVD/etc cords can be neatly hidden behind the wall, out of view.
- The bathroom's wainscotting is giving it that nice beach cottage look, and will allow me to burn the horrid shoe-molding that the lazybones that installed the flooring put up years ago to hide the fact that he played fast & loose with measurements.
- The attic storage off the plant shelf now has 3/4" plywood subflooring, which will allow me to actually store things in it without risking inadvertantly installing a skylight in the bathroom below. We're adding insulation over my bedroom b/c apparently there wasn't ANY AT ALL there (which could perhaps explain why it's always so bloody cold in the winter), and we found a roof leak before it could do any real damage...provided the condo association fixes it...
- Daddies and I ripped up the plant shelf's carpet Fri/Sat and replaced it with vinyl tiles - not a permanent fix but far better for a space that holds plant life, and a good 5-10 year floor while I hallucinate about replacing the loft carpet. :)
- Bookshelves are painted and...would be so awesome...if only...they had...y'know...SHELVES. (Curse you, Maryland springtime! Couldn't we have a week of 50-plus Degree weather so the shelves can be painted? Pretty please?)
- Column has yet to be ordered, which makes it kinda difficult to think of this as in-progress, but I can dream about eventually not whacking my forehead against the existing support pillar's corners, at least...
- Coating of Thick White Powdery Dust on Absolutely Everything: Check and Double-Check. Also, the contractor is using my bathroom sink as a scrub sink. Cue mental image of Jennies playing the part of that guy in that fabulous impressionist painting, The Scream. D8
In other news, I'm behind on commissions, suffering from writer's block (on kiwi-related prokects, at least), living in bedlam (my room resembles a storage unit after a mild earthquake), going insane from overwork (of 6 programmers, 2 are out on bereavement leave and another is sick, and that 27 April deadline is creeping ever-closer as we scramble to pick up the slack...), and consistently having nightmares where someone is trying to harm my car (currently my sole refuge from the madness surrounding me).
Also, they're currently removing the windows in my office. I'm told there's no asbestos on this side of the building but to be careful not to inhale lead paint particulates.
Still, I'm happy: a young male cardinal has discovered my feed station and is now a daily patron of my balcony's seed pots. Chirrup and huzzah - I may not have a chance to plant an early garden this year, but by golly I won't have to worry about wasp nests! :D
