Food security as social justice

I work in a domestic violence shelter. The state classifies my residents as homeless. Which makes sense. Many were in dire straits financially BEFORE they came here. Most come from poverty, many are chronically homeless. I think everyone should receive all of these as a matter of course. People should just have the right to them, period.

1. decent housing
2. enough healthy food
3. clean water
4. enough electricity/gas to get by
5. sufficient heating/cooling
6. a job
7. transportation to that job
8. healthcare

I would GLADLY pay almost my whole paycheck in taxes to have these things.
