Jerks. I've actually heard from several people, including my dad, how nice Austin is.

It's just closed minded people who are conservative. Some conservative Texans think ALL Texans should be Republicans. And since Austin is so liberal, they think they have the right to say that none of us are true Texans, which is a very anti-Texan spirit to have. For a state that really prides itself on being friendly and being down to earth, there are some very unfriendly people. I'm sure that happens everywhere, unfriendly people. I had heard such people existed, those who think Austinites are not real Texans, but this was my first encounter with one of them.
I think more than anything it was upsetting because it was like she denied me a big part of my identity.
