I wondered what in the world they were talking about. AND THANK GOODNESS I wasn't the only one who HATED The Hobbit. When Lord of The Rings came out, I couldn't understand the interest until I watched the movies. Since then I've heard the other books are better than The Hobbit. My go to conversion book EVERY time (and it has NEVER failed me) is Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas. I also find that Rachel Gibson, Victoria Dahl, and Julie James are good ones. I'm a hard core historical romance reader, but I realize it's not for everyone, otherwise I would be recommending Elizabeth Hoyt (love) and Dreaming of You by LK.

For the record, I thrive on converting. I've even started converting my critique group a little!! haha

Hm, do you read Elizabeth Hoyt's contemp alter ego, Julia Harper? I'm going to have to check out Julie James. I keep hearing about her lately.

I have read both of the Julia Harper books, and they're okay. Historical is definitely her strength, in my opinion. I love her flawed hero's. Definitely check out Julie James, she's really great.
