see if your landlord would consider a 6-month or month-to-month lease. let him know what's going on. if he's cool, it won't be an issue. if he's not...well, time to start weighing your options.

Why would you be moving, is it for work? I've never had a problem getting out of a lease early due to job changes.

Do you live in a location that a new house officer starting at U. Pitt would be interested in a lease starting in June or July? You might be able to work something out with your landlord where he puts your unit on the market for leases starting in July (as that's a *really* popular time of year for the zillions of new House Officers to start.) And hopefully your landlord will be understanding of the whole "no idea where Alik's job is taking him until Dec-Jan-Match Day in March...

Good thoughts -- we're on a couple bus lines and near the new CHildrens Hospital that will be going up, and parking is abundant, so subletting to a new resident is indeed possible. Is there any site that newly-minted house staff check to find apartments/houses?

How about right after next year's Match Day putting up an advertisement on Craigslist? One might figure right after the euphoria of "Hey, I'm going to Pittsburgh!" would come the "Hey, where am I going to live?", and a good number of those folks would start looking around.
