Have you tried some anti inflammatories? Take some aleeve or motrrin and see if that helps. I'm not sure about the diagnosis thing - just keep an eye on it. Watch for other knuckles bothering you on the other hand - RA is symmetrical usually if one joint hurts the other joint on the opposite side will start to hurt as well.
