So I'm thinking of joining the Peace Corps

I've started but not completed my application. It's a two year commitment, and it seems smarter to do it now, instead of after retirement. I don't know if they'll take me, I don't have a degree, but they've apparently become more flexible about that. Also, I can't take the cats with me, and I'm worried that 13 year old Darby won't live through ( Read more... )

Isn't there a long wait-list for it anyway? Or is that not true anymore?

It takes them 6-9 months to decide if they want you, 9-12 months if you're a married couple that wants to be stationed together. They ask you on the application when you'll be available, so I told them a year from now, since I will have to find cat housing, pack my stuff, sell a lot of it, put it in storage, etc.

Yeah, the grumpuss is 13. And I would get 48 vacation days over 2 years, so I would love it if you visited.
