Is anyone else a member of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers?)

Feb 09, 2006 14:20

After last months MOPS meeting, I wondered if I was in the wrong organization and really considered never going back. Well, this morning was MOPS again and since Kari and I didn't have anything else going on, we went. I again, was disappointed, like I've been the other two times I've only been. I'm beginning to wonder if God wants me there. I ( Read more... )

I've never been to a MOPS meeting, but I read up on it once and really didn't think it would be something I would enjoy. But I know God will answer the question for you!

I think each chapter is different. The one that I am in I just haven't gotten any good "vibes" about. I guess some of the things they are empahsizing on just doesn't seem to me to be appropriate. My cousin is in a MOPS group in Denver, CO and she loves hers, so I just don't know. Thanks for your encouragement!

I LOVE my MOPS group!!!! poetlady February 9 2006, 23:37:40 UTC
I guess it varies by chapter.

Ours seems very godly to me. The speakers mention verses, they pray before every meeting, the discussion groups mention what the Bible say and about what God would want us to do.

Like I said, I guess it depends on the chapter?

Do you get the magazine? The weekly emails?

I am sorry you haven't had a good experience. I have been really blessed in my MOPS chapter. Maybe different leadership makes a difference too...

I think that is true. My cousin in Denver, CO absolutely LOVES hers, infact she is the one who convinced me to join a chapter. This is only the third one that I've been too and I have not been impressed at all with it. For one, they do not pray, God is never mentioned, or very rarely and if so it sounds as if he's a pretty impersonal God, and some of the subjects of their meetings have not been very Godly in my opinion. I guess I just don't feel the Holy Spirit there and it also feels as if some of the leaders are "showing off." I know a lot of them are doctor's wives and of that sort, and I don't mean to be stereotyping, but it seems like it's all a competition of some sort to see who can wear the most "fancy" outfit or something. I usually go in jeans and a sweatshirt. I don't know. I know God will give me the answer as to where I am to fit in with this group, or not. Thanks for encouraging me that this is not the "standard" MOPS group ( ... )
