Newsletter Cancellation:
Hello - I bought my home 4 years ago. I DO NOT KNOW the Social Security number of the women who lived there before me and DIED 5 YEARS AGO.
I have tried to accomplish this cancellation by phone, but to no avail.
Surely I'm not the first person with this problem.

Good luck to you. When my grandfather died, we had about a hundred conversations with credit card companies, magazines, etc that reminded me very much of the Monty Python "dead parrot" sketch.

"No, you CAN'T talk to the account holder! Because he's DEAD!"
"Fine, don't cancel, but he's not paying for your services anymore, and you can ding his credit all you want, cuz he's in HEAVEN and PAST CARING about his credit rating!"
"Sure, I can ask him his password. Let me organize a SEANCE and get back to you."

Just what you want to do when a loved one dies, oh yes. Which is probably why the Dansons didn't straighten this out a long time ago.
