Congratulations! It sounds as though your knee is recovering quite nicely -- or HAS recovered quite nicely.

I'm a little clueless on one point, so please enlighten me. What is the difference between a novice and a beginner?

Thank you! My knee.. Ehh, I've pretty much given up on it. It still hurts really badly, but it's numb when I touch it. And it will burn whenever I'm walking or twirling or anything. But I'm getting used to it again..

Novice is right below beginner, you have to win 3 first places to move from that to beginner. Novice is the lowest, then beginner, intermediate, and advanced is after that. That probably didn't answer your question though..

There are still times when my shoulder gives me problems. I just keep working at it. Sooner or later, I will have it working as well as it did before the accident and surgery.

You answered the question well enough. Believe it or not, it sounds like it's similar to the class system that's used for masquerades at science fiction conventions.
