amy you are so deaf-insensitivejennydradelmanNovember 4 2004, 21:16:15 UTC
no, no, no
it's for deaf people. so, hypothetically, if I were deaf and wanted to call someone, I would go to this website and the operator would be my voice. so you type something, the operator says it to whoever you're calling, and then types whatever they say in reply to you. and then you can type more, the operator says it, the person you're calling replies, then the operator types their reply. it would be like if AIM were transcribed by a live person. and the funny part is, the operators are trained to talk like robots no matter what you type them to say. so p.lee sent me a relay call that was like "I know you want my love in your mouth. skeetskeetskeet."
people here do that sometime because we have a big deaf ministry thing at our school, so we're all informed about things that help deaf people out. anyway, some people found out about it last year and were prank calling everyone.
it was pretty exciting. ive never heard it though. i assume its hilarious. i mean, robot voices saying whatever you want-- how could it not be?
