After I posted my general response to the readings, I could not help also replying to a couple of classmates, including one person that was driving me crazy

oh, indeed. This is why I brought up picture books specifically and why the comment had me banging my head so much.
I mean, this is what I DO with small children. I read books aloud to them - and to large groups, not small intimate ones. I put on puppet shows. I even make the books move sometimes by reading pop-up books etc. So the idea that a _video_ of me doing all this would be so vastly different as to lose all value whatsoever....what are these people smoking?
...I think possibly if I squint hard enough I can see what you are saying about GM food, but it's early and my brain is still a little fuzzy. :)
Well, a lot of stuff on TV is crap. The way a lot of stuff, generally, is crap, right? Therefore all TV is crap and we should have none.
Monsanto makes a lot of crap. (Actually, much of what they make is worse than crap, but that's another story.) And their licensing is pretty evil. But using this as a justification to ban, say, golden rice makes me want to set something on fire.
Also, it strikes me that the "all tv is crap/all GM foods are crap" arguments are more an argument against capitalism than they are tv or GM foods.
(not that I think that, under socialism, we wouldn't have crap - I''m more just making an observation that the absolutists seem to have skipped an important part of both dynamics.)
hee! yes. :) And, if I am remembering right, the real Trixie does the voice for the character Trixie. I know Mo Willems directed it, which only makes sense because that is what he did before he started writing picture books.
(It's a Weston Woods production. They specialize in adapting picture books to short animated videos and tend to win ALA awards for their shorts. Knuffle Bunny won one.)
