ETA: umm, duh - that's what prologue means. I'd blame it on the early morning, but it's already 9:30 here and I've been up for two hours...

Willow could be right at that; getting you to openly admit your feelings even in letter form will help you feel better about your self and who knows Xander may find a blond haired, blue eyed surprise under his tree.
