My fanfic year 2011

Dec 31, 2011 12:41

Did that last year, but I thought it might be something one could do every year, since there's always new writing... ;)

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I don't think I predicted anything, as I had no idea what was expecting me this year... This year was full of changes for me. Still I managed to write eleven fics, and some of them were quite long, so I probably wrote more than I could have predicted.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Voyager! I mean, that's something I never thought I would ever write... and then, all of a sudden, a by now 13-year old love catches fire again, and here I am, with five completed stories in two months...

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
There were some very beautiful Voyager fics I read - ones new to me and some I re-discovered. Many author's from VAMB are really great, and have wonderful ideas, and there was so much that warmed my heart.
As for my own writing, I'd have to choose two I really loved writing - "Moonlight Hours" (Voyager) and "Just Because" (CSI:NY).

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Risks... not really. Not that I know of. I wrote things I haven't written before, but I wouldn't call them risks. Maybe writing a CSI:NY fic with a baby involved was kind of a risk, but that still went quiet well.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
I definitely want to write more, and I hope my muse stays with me just a little longer, because there are some Voyager ideas I need to get on the paper.

From my past year of writing, what was...

My best story of this year:
"The Touch Of A Hand", a VOY story  - because I was finally able to write down what was on my mind for almost ten years, and I think I did it pretty well.

My most popular story of this year:
That would also be "The Touch Of A Hand".

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
That would be the same answer as last year. None. If people don't like one (or more) of my stories, it's okay. People are different, and so are their tastes. Besides, I'm not a perfect writer. :)

Most fun story to write:
Huh... I didn't get that much into "fun" this year, but it would probably be "Cold Feet", which sometimes really amused me.

Story with the single sexiest moment:
That would either be "Moonlight Hours" (first J/C kiss), or my Secret Santa 2011 for VAMB, which isn't yet published, so I can't say much about it ;)

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
"Faded History" - my very first PWP. 'nuff said.

Hardest story to write:
"Ignition", a CSI:NY fic, because I really wanted to stay in character, which wasn't that easy, given what "fate" I wrote Stella and Mac. But I'm pleased with that story.

Biggest Disappointment:
That's hard to say... I wanted to write several Castle fics, but inspiration left me because of the way they dealt with the whole Caskett thing on the show. I have the ideas, I have began the stories, but I can't go on with them.

Biggest Surprise:
The fact alone that I've written Voyager fics is a surprise, because I've been a fan for so long and never felt... inspired to write VOY fics. It's not very different with CSI:NY, because maybe a year and a half ago, I didn't even want to watch the show. Same applies to Lie To Me. It's like my year of unexpected writing, because it's all for shows I was either never interested in before (or even resented), and a show I was back then too young to write for, and later had not enough interest in and passion for anymore.
