FIC: Q is for Queen 2/4 (SGA)
Hissing, the Queen pulled herself to her feet and glided toward them. “Well, well,” she snarled. “Humans - Atlanteans, from the look of you. What would make you so foolish as to approach me on my own ship?”
John nudged Rodney, who gulped audibly and stepped forward. “We…. we bring tribute to the Queen.”
“Tribute.” Her eyes raked John. “This one?”
“No, ma’am,” John said, taking her attention long enough for Rodney to form his surprise. “This.”
Rodney brought his hands up, revealing the delicate crystal necklace dangling from his fingers. “For you,” he said, with a smile meant to be charming.
She touched the crystal gently with a clawed hand, breathing out as in awe. “It is… acceptable,” she said, taking it from his hands. “It is -”
At that moment, the lieutenant made his move. His disruptor moved slightly to the side, and he fired once.
The Queen jerked as the beam hit her. She whirled to face the lieutenant, dropping the necklace in her ire, snarling, “What is this? What are you doing?”
Rodnely took the chance and created a spear while the Queen and lieutenant yelled at each other. He threw it to John, who surged forward.
The Queen screamed as the crystal plunged through her back and pierced her blackened heart as it emerged from her chest. She arched and wailed, writhing in mortal agony.
Inhuman teeth were revealed in a cold alien grin as the lieutenant replied, “Your final act - my queen - is to perish!”
“Why….” she croaked, falling to her knees. “.....loyal….”
His only answer was a second disruptor blast that took her completely to the ground - and took off part of her skull.
In the silence that followed, Rodney created a second spear as Atlanteans and Wraith stared at each other. The standoff lasted until Rodney - never one to stand silence - broke it with, “Well? So what happens now?”
