Drinking my first bubble tea and I must say...not all that impressed. Kinda bland. Is this the vegan form of a smoothie?

no, just a fun drink from Japan and Korea with huge balls in it!

i've had bad bubble tea before. some places make them too much like some weird smoothie.

Usually it is not vegan. You must have gone to a bad place! The types vary from all fruit to practically milk shakes, and rare places I have encountered have bubble tea that tastes more like tea. Usually they are more flavorful and way more sugary than a smoothie. Hmmm.

Oh no! Yeah, usually they use powdered base and it contains dairy, but it sounds like it could be something different if it tasted that bland. I have come across places that make vegan ones with coconut milk.

Hmmm often not vegan (in contrast with smoothies since most of those are!). Although I think delicious! I agree that you must have gone to a bad place.
