Interlude while waiting

Okay, since I dont think I get the game today and its not like I have anything else to do right now I think I can just post another entry and bore you a bit with some Final-Fantasy XI talk.

Well since you can change your job in the game as often as you like the most important choice you have to make at the beginning of this game is the race you have to choose for your character-to-be. So I started browsing through the web for clues in order to find the race I wanna go with.

Well... since I am not much of a warrior-type and I prefer more the sneaky and/or magic-wielding classes I at least had some clues what to look for.

But since I have pretty much time now - I just introduce all the five races in the game from my first-impression-point-of view:

First, there are the Galka. They are pretty strong and look like a crossbread between Chewbacca and a Klingon - only that they seem to have green faces. Anyway... they are meant to be warriors so I discarded them as my race-to-be first.

Next in line are the Elvaan. They seem to be the elves in Final Fantasy XI and by that would usually be my natural choice of race to play. But besides the looks and the proud-heritage-thingie going on they are quite different from the usual "main-stream" elves. They are pretty strong but not really fast and/or agile. So I sighed heavily, said farewell and turned my eyes to the next race:

The TaruTaru. Now they are so not my character to be. Those tiny to-cute-to-be-good-and-always-smiling-and-staring-with-their-button-like-eyes people just freak me out. They do look a bit like Tele-Tubbies - and I have a total aversion towards Tele-Tubbies. And besides... they dont seem very trustworthy to me... I mean... come on - they are pretty inteligent (and sadly they seem to be the best choice for mages) and I think they do all this weird being-cute on purpose just to make everybody belief they are all good which they surely arent! (Okay about that last part: I was kidding and I hope I didnt offend any Taru-player - but I really dont think I will ever play that race - sorry!)

That leaves only two races left:

The humes (dont have to say much about them - they are the humans and they seem to be average in every aspect which makes them pretty good choices for people who havent decided on a job they wanna go with) and the Mithra.

Mithra are cat-people. They live in a matriarchaic society - and that means the guys dont have anything to say at all. In-game that means you can only play female Mithras. For that reason I almost discarded them and would have gone with humes.

But then I started thinking: On the other hand... they are the fastest and most agile race - and they are pretty inteligent, too. And that makes them the perfect race for all the jobs I would like to play most. And playing a female character seems more and more like an interesting chalange. So I think I will go with Mithra for my character to be.

About the name... hm... since every name can be picked only once and there are already thousands of people playing this game around the globe I guess I have to improvise when I finally create the character.

The only question that is left at the moment is - should I start as a thief or as one of the mage-classes (preferably red mage from my point of view).

Ah well... I think thats enough for one post, right?

PS: How can you put a long text behind a link in your journal? I see that done in nearly every journal - but I dont have a clue. So a little help would be nice! /Edit: Thanks, CO!
