i've never had a post like this in any of my other LIMS communities, but really wanted to be thorough this time. this post will feature the most frequently asked questions about a lims challenge and if you have any questions, just comment to this post and i'd be happy to reply/add that question to the FAQ. also, i would like everyone to refer to this post if they have any problems or there's something not clear.

WHAT IS LIMS?
LIMS stands for "Last Icon Maker Standing." in a lims competition, instead of awarding winners we vote off icon makers each week. The people who aren't eliminated are allowed to enter the next weeks contest where we'll eliminate more contestants. The person to win the contest is, of course, the last icon maker standing
WHAT ARE THE BASIC RULES?
- you have to sign up and join and/or friend this community to participate
- you have to enter each week until you get voted off (or win!!)
- you can enter only 1 icon each week
- failing to submit an icon will get you kicked off the whole round (unless you use a skip)
- after you've been eliminated/voted off/kicked out, you cannot re-enter that round
WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR SUBMITTING ICONS?
- you can only use the picture(s) provided
- other effects are allowed, unless stated otherwise, but NO animated icons, let's make it fair for everyone
- submit the icons to the challenge post, DO NOT post your icons elsewhere before the voting is over. otherwise you will be disqualified.
- icons have to follow LJ standards (max 40kb, 100x100px)
- submit your icons like this (the image and then the URL underneath)

HOW DO SKIPS WORK?
you will get one skip just for signing up. you can get another one for promoting jensenlims somewhere. 2 skips per person per round. 1 promotion = 1 skip. using a skip means that if (for some reason) you can't submit an icon that challenge or don't want to, you tell me beforehand, and you can skip that challenge. if you get voted off, you're skips will be lost. if you don't submit an icon AND don't tell me beforehand BUT you have a skip left, i will assume you wanted to use a skip and you will not be eliminated.
you can also get the picture in advance, if you are (for example) out of town for 2 or more weeks and want to make the icons in advance. to do that, just comment to the SKIP POST!
WHAT ABOUT THE VOTING?
LIMS voting is different from regular challenge voting. in this case you have to vote for the icons you like LEAST! usually you have to vote for 3 least favourites, but a voting form will be included with each voting post so please use that. YOU HAVE TO GIVE REASONS FOR YOUR VOTES and they can't be personal reasons like 'i don't like the colour red' or 'i think this icon trend is ugly'. you HAVE TO vote according to quality. for example- 'the picture is oversaturated', 'it's blurry', 'the font is unflattering' and so on.
you also have to vote for 1 favourite icon which will determine the people's choice. you don't have to give a reason for this, but it's encouraged.
the icon(s) with most negative votes will be eliminated.
CAN I VOTE FOR MY OWN ICON?
yes, you can vote for your own icon. sounds like the contest of your dreams yet? well let me bring your head down from the clouds- you can only vote for your own icons as worst. you cannot choose it as your favourite.
but why vote out your own icon anyway? if it's bad, then other people will notice too so i suggest not sabotaging yourself =)
HOW CAN I SEE THE COMMENTS MY ICON GETS?
the comments won't be unscreened, but you can comment to the winners post with your icon number and you'll get your comments in a screened post (to read it, you'll have to have the e-mail notification option turned on)
AND WHO WILL BE THE WINNER?
each challenge a number of people get voted off. when there are just 2 people left, there will be a special challenge and the one with most votes wins!
WHEN WILL WE START?
i'll post the first challenge when we have at least 10-15 participants.
WHEN WILL IT END?
there will be no specific date, because i don't know how many of you will sign up. but once we're dow to 2-3 people, it will be a cool week or so to the end.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
comment to the SIGN-UP POST with the phrase "saving people, hunting things" in your subject line or comment and you will be added to the participants list and please don't forget to friend and/or join this community, because that will make it easier for everyone.
