So I'm back in real life. Not particularly happy about it, but I had a good vacation, so it's okay. Christmas was lovely, good food, we all went completely overboard with the gifts. I got a hefty tax refund right before Christmas, so yeah, me too. And my little niece is soooo cute ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about your dad and decisions aren't easy - sometimes, often. Note the lack of advice...okay, see how the situation goes during Jan. procrastinating isn't always the wrong choice.

Glad you had a good break, going back to everyday life is always a bit meh. Same here!

I guess if it hadn't been a bit meh to go back to real life, we wouldn't enjoy vacation time as much as we do. I think I really just needed some sympathy, which I got, so thanks. And I'm definitely in procrastination mode and it is not bad at all. :-)

It makes me soooo upset to hear about your dad!! It really sounds like something has happened to him (don't know the English word, but "propp" in Swedish) since there is weakness in one side and he has difficulties talking. I remember when it happened to my mother and it was the same, they just refused seeing it *angry*. But then she was already so "gone" so it didn't really change much, but for your dad it's a huge thing! Sometimes I think those people who work with them just behave like ostriches and pretend not seeing since it would give them more work..... I can understand that you are worried about going away for a full month and I can't really give you any advice either. I wouldn't go, but then that's me. And what an idiot to tell you that you shouldn't come so often!! As if that would improve anything ( ... )

Oh, I wish I could take lots of naps like that, but I did pretty good with the jet lag this time around, so no naps to screw it up for me. Last time was terrible and that time I drove home was probably even more awful ( ... )

Well, no one has confirmed that my mother has had a stroke, but to me it was so obvious when suddenly only half of her mouth was smiling and she only used her left hand (she was always a right-handed person ( ... )

Welcome back to good old Europe! I'm so sorry about your dad. I don't think you should feel bad about not having been there. You have to live your own life, too. On the other hand, why shouldn't you see him when you're there. Don't let these people give you such crap. Anyway, all the best for you and your dad! I hope he'll recover soon and all turns out fine.
