Petfinder at least responded to my second attempt to post an ad with them, after a day, to let me know that I needed to increase my adoption fee.  Arrgh!  People in Tacoma do not pay $25 for kittens.  No, really, they don't.  If they could they would buy one from a pet store.  I realize that would be some assurance against abuse, but it's too much ( Read more... )

Can you just list the price and then tell anyone who contacts you that you will take less?

I wish I could adopt a kitten. :\

Yeah, I would do that, but I've been watching the "wanted" ads on craigslist and there's a fair amount of "I just REALLY need a FREE kitten" people out there who won't respond to an ad with a significant fee. And also I am just annoyed with petfinder. They seem kind of preachy and difficult. I tried just saying "negotiable fee" on the last one and they never even responded, just didn't post it. I appreciate the freedom of craigslist.

Well, for example, I could afford to take her grandma home and spay her and get her her shots, but if I had had to also pay a fee for her that would not have been an option.

But I see what you are saying. I'm just relieved to have found her a home with a genuine animal person. She is an animal that needs that kind of understanding. I hope you guys have lots of fun.
