well, if i were you i'd stay away from the one about IMF and World Bank. just because the history is so convoluted and corrupt that 3000 words just is not enough to say about it.
since it's a social change class, i'd probably lean towards the first one. because with the advent of things like channel 1 and nabisco sponsored math books (i shit you not), advertising companies are having a large effect on the kids who will lead social change int he future.
number 4 is fascinating and inga muscio puts together a lot of it in a very easy-to-read, non-fiction yet non-textbook book called confessions of a blue-eyed devil. it's fully cited and even if you don't choose this topic, i'd still recommend the book.
Thanks for the insight! I would do he first one, cept I think I'm too sick of hearing about the horrors of the ad industry. The IMF one still intrigues me.
hahahaha good thing I read this before I said "who the hell are you?" to someone unsuspecting. :P
Before we got the topics, I DID want to do something about the internet as an agent of social change. Though if I did the IMF/world bank one I could probably mention the grameen bank thing. And still the multiculturalism/melting pot thing seems interesting, and probably the most challenging.
so many good choices. I think the rise of Nazism would be the most easy, as would be the Latin America one (if you know where to look for good sources). the IMF/WB would be good too, and probably not too difficult to find sources for. I wouldn't even know where to begin with the multiculturalism vs melting pot one.

I think I'm leaning toward either the technological determinism one, or the multiculturalism/melting pot one
