lately, i've somehow been around a lot of tvs showing rodeos. and i'm fascinated by them. i've seen a few events- riding the bull, riding a bucking bronco, and the most impressive, riding a horse and jumping off it to a running bull and tackling it by the horns. it might look cruel, but i think these cowboys care about the animals and value them.

Speaking about jumping off the bull to tackle it, have you seen a very similar one where they lasso a calf from the horse, then jump off and hogtie it?

That one is probably my favorite.

Don't worry about romanticizing the whole thing. The best part about being out on a farm/ranch is that you're free to do what you want, and if that happens to include yelling crazy shit with a drawl, nobody is going to tell you not to.

I'll probably be moving back to Texas in a few years, and getting a ranch or something. You should come out and visit sometime, and ride some of Beca's horses.

oh yeah, i did see that. how the HELL do they get their legs like that? with lasso skills comes great responsibility, i guess. i would abuse that.

and if i could come out to your ranch, by golly, i'd be grinnin like a jackass eatin cactus.

i come home december 20 and leave january 4, so we better hang out.
