I was struck by a burst of inspiration (mostly thanks to Jadedsilk) and this is the unanticipated result. I remade an old character, Inbar Euch'me. He's one of my favourites...

Inbar isn't a really unusual name. Euch'me... I acutally picked it because he dislikes his last name. He took up a different surname once he made his rank. I forgot to add that part. It's now Inbar Redwake. The choosing of a new surname once they take a title (i.e. dragon) is traditional in the Jin-Keiga. The first Dragon was Jin Lien-da, but she changed her name to Keiga, one of the five dragon gods. Inbar has done the same, but taken a name befitting of the Dragon. The life of the Dragon is a bloody path. The Dragon usually has the shortest life-span because he is always sought-after by others. I can't believe I forgot to add that...

Ah. They have weird names because.... they can. I like unusual names. Usually I pick them for the way they sound. Sometimes I have characters with name that aren't unheard of, like Zeke, Inbar, Arram, Merric, Amaris, Cassiel and Ariel, Kaiya, Isis, Aura...
But I like to create names that sound kinda cool. Like Tiras, Vanlith, Aiylah, Koru... Character names that are undeniably mine. I mean, I like plenty of existing names, like Vincent (I know a guy named Vincent), but if I use it, it feels like I ripped off Vincent Valentine because he's obviously one of my favorite characters. So, giving a name like that to an OC just doesn't sit right with me. So, I create entirely new names instead.

Not a very sensible reason, I know, but I also do it just because it's fun. You want weird, I have a whole list of names I haven't used yet. I can just whip it out and pull a name off of it.... ^^;
