When updating your journal, you can pick the time and date of your journal entry. Some people put a "friends only" banner with a date like June 10 2010 so it will stay at the top.
The scenario works like this:
I open "update journal" at 11:30 PM on April 6th. But it's a long entry, and I get up for moment and don't actually post the entry until 12:15 AM, April 7th. The post time and date (unless I manually changed it) will read 11:30 PM, April 6th. And let's say another friend quickly posted soemthing at 12:05 AM, April 7th. Because your friends page displays things in the order that they were actually posted, your page will list the second friends' post first, thus the confusion.
