Every Moment is a Little Bit Later

So, the deadline for the National Merit Scholarship first choice school is sometime in February, which basically means that I have to decide whether I want to go to Emory or Northwestern in the next few weeks.

EMORY
pros
-better weather
-larger endowment (nicer dorms, better facilities, etc.)
-I can drive home for Christmas, etc.

you might want to determine the environment at both schools and look into majors you are interested in. i find these two things to be the most important aspects of a university. for instance, harvard is ranked higher than both of those schools, but you wouldn't want to go to harvard for engineering. at the same time, you would want to go to mit for engineering and it's in boston, but it sucks in terms of environment. moreover, i find generalizations about people in certain areas to usually be incorrect (i.e. the people i've met up north have been super nice and helpful). plus, you have been to emory. the kids there and the people of atlanta are not hicks; cnn, delta, etc are all based there. the weather thing is just true. chicago is freakin cold. regardless, i doubt you'll get SAD. distance is true too. if distance is an issue for your family and you, don't take it lightly; it can really change your experience at college. another thing you might want to consider is transportation. if you can bring your car to emory, then you'll be ( ... )

That was really long! Thanks for your though-provoking analysis. The worst part is: I'm actually really worried about SAD! You're right about Atlanta though, it definately wouldn't be as bad as the hicksville my friend who moved to Georgia lives in and complains about.
