The summer program sounds amazing. You've got a great opportunity there, and you seem to be the type of person that can really make the most of it. Thugs? Perhaps. *laughs* Although I wouldn't say you looked the part from your photos. You'll have to try and keep me updated on the summer program, it's something I'd love to hear about.

yeah. I know some books.nickinitalyMay 30 2002, 08:06:15 UTC
Of course my first recommendation is the book that I have been reading it seems non-stop for the last few days (ask Maria!) and is completely on my mind right now. It is A People's History of the United States: 1492 - Present by Howard Zinn.
In my opinion, it shouldn't be skipped by any american highschool kid in the entire country. (the Establishment might have something to say about that though). However, it probably is more at the level of high school seniors or even college freshmen than incoming high school freshmen. Don't quite know reading levels yet. (Ask Derek, he studied all that shit for like 2 years now.) Anyway, at least you should think about giving some chapters of that book to them to spark their interest. You can get some of them without even buying it at http://www.geocities.com/howardzinnfans/online_works.html and http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Zinn/PeoplesHistory_Zinn.html. If you are seriously thinking about this, let me know and I'll recommend you my favorite chapters
