Well, I am back. And for all those people I doubted when they said that staying up all night will help as you get to sleep the entire way back, I take it all back. The trip flew by (pun inteded) as I was asleep for most of it except to eat a little of the shitty food and watch a movie. Hey, it was Forrest Gump. After that, though, sleepy time was great. Only thing is that my eyes hurt a bit from the contacts. Only bad part though. I never knew 14 hours could go by so quickly.
I got back in at around 4:30. Of course, going through customs, getting my bags and getting back home took a good while. In fact, just getting through customs took a few hours. If someone could explain to me why they need to check your passport 15 times just to go from a plane to the exit, I would be appreciative. I am just surprised that you don't need it before you are allowed on the train heading to the airport. But, it is better than America. Not nearly as paranoid. Plus, I discovered that I can take the bus back to Kasai from the airport. Truly awesome. Pay a few hundred yen more, and get to sit on a bus from the airport to where you want to go. Don't have to keep up with a hundred pounds of bags and the like. No changing trains. No wondering if you are going to get a seat or not. Very, very cool.
So, I got back to Kasai and just dragged my bags over to the taxi area and rode in a taxi back to the stairwell to my front door. I was lazy, but dragging all of that back the half mile in the cold after being in a plane for 14 hours didn't really seem attractive to me. So, I got back and got my bags upstairs and started the unpacking process. After getting a lot of the stuff out and getting it organized (mainly out of the "stuff" bag), I put everything up. I am now stocked to last a year for most things..... If I get to stay here for another year. Contract is up in a few months. But, I will jump off that bridge when I get to it.
Had dinner and finished unpacking and putting up. Everything is up, more or less and I have some room now. I can relax. Except for the going to work tomorrow part. Jet lag is a pain. But, at least I am back and that bit of stress is behind me. Now for a different kind of stress.... Work Stress. It is different from Holiday Stress. How, I am still fuzzy about, but it is.
