Let me just say, unequivocally, on the record, that a "Gas Tax Holiday" has got to be one of the most idiotic, downright stupid, embarassing, shallow, pointless proposals to help our economy of this entire deplorable primary season

I completely agree, I had heard number even lower than what you are saying, like $30 for the summer per consumer! If getting $600 checks for nothing is not enough why does cutting that tax make a difference? I really wish we had better choices for the upcoming election. One thing that I have heard Hillary mention several times is that they are making record profits and not using them at all. There has been huge changes in sulfur content and oils that can be used. The companies are making huge changes to their refineries.

What are the odds that any one of them could actually get this sort of joke passed through congress?

Yes, the sad reality is that most of the support for this idocy is going to come from the short-sighted rural paycheck-to-paycheckers who got us into this mess in the first place. Ah, democracy.
