The Great Train Jol

A week or so ago, a certain Jonathan decided it would be a good idea to take the train down the peninsula and have a day of fun and relaxation on the public holiday. Since I live about 150m from the Diep River station, I was the last person to hop on the train as it headed south and the jol 1 was already in full swing. Being familiar with the Afrikaner accent I'm not sure if "surfrikan" means "south african surfer", or if it means "south african" :p

I'll have to remember these slang words for the guys at work. We have quite a few guys from that part of the world.

** having read that link, I figure it's a surfie thing. :p

As a genuine Surfrikan myself and a decided non surfer, it could also very well mean "South African" as pronounced by a thick(ish) Afrikaans accent. I can hear it in my head, but it's hard to put into words.

Right, off to get the medication for hearing Afrikaans accents in my head...
