The Great Train Jol

A week or so ago, a certain Jonathan decided it would be a good idea to take the train down the peninsula and have a day of fun and relaxation on the public holiday. Since I live about 150m from the Diep River station, I was the last person to hop on the train as it headed south and the jol 1 was already in full swing. We enjoyed the relaxing trip

Being familiar with the Afrikaner accent I'm not sure if "surfrikan" means "south african surfer", or if it means "south african" :p

I'll have to remember these slang words for the guys at work. We have quite a few guys from that part of the world.

As a genuine Surfrikan myself and a decided non surfer, it could also very well mean "South African" as pronounced by a thick(ish) Afrikaans accent. I can hear it in my head, but it's hard to put into words.

Right, off to get the medication for hearing Afrikaans accents in my head...
