Nannying, volunteering, caring for animals can all be included in your resume.

Supplemental education can be another heading.

just school is enough. you don't need or want to fill it with little jobs unless you were doing those things on a full time regular basis while you were in school. i would suggest just saying "full time student from ____ to _____." if/ when they ask you why you are not going back to school, just say that in the current economy you cannot afford it.

Just don't make up anything too fishy sounding. You're young it's not that out of the ordinary to have gaps. If you don't make a big deal out of it (either by being defensive about it or trying to fill in absolutely all the employment-timeline-wholes) the interviewer really won't care.

When I hired people I looked a the resumes to see what they have done, so I could get an idea of what they could do and what sort of temperament they have. I tell you most employers would rather have an intelligent person with a good attitude than a "super impressive work history". (Because super impressive work history costs too much to hire...)

So try to project confident, like to learn & happy. And good luck out there it is not a real fun time to be looking for any kind of job.

I have Education, Work Experience, Leadership and Skills as headings on my resume. There's nothing wrong with a little . . .padding on the resume. I have assistant horse trainer and I don't even talk to the girl anymore. They don't need to know if it's only a class here, and a class there.
