So Chris pointed this out to me last night, but doesn't the new pope look a little like Emperor Palpatine?

I typed in Emperor Palpatine into Google & saw a picture (supporting Chris' premise) with the following quote: "If you will not be turned, you will be destroyed!"
I anticipate that Pope Benedict's reign will be a return to the pre-Vatican II attitudes and the accompanying hard-line conservatism. For us "lapsed Catholics", who were finally becoming comfortable in the Church again, we may end up back on the outside. (I sincerely hope I will be surprised...) At least your generation won't have to worry about Social Security with the return of the large Catholic families.

It seems strange that your time in Italy is coming to an end. I've thoroughly enjoyed your pictures, descriptions and resulting comments. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to pictures from the other parts of Europe!
