No wonder Fortunoff's is out of business

Saw that Fortunoff was having a going out of business sale, everything 60% off. I'm fully aware that one trick they pull when liquidiating a store is to say 60% off and say it's off prices they never charged. Harrows used to do this all the time with their after christmas sales. They;'d sell a set of lights for say... $20 normally. then after ( Read more... )

hun? that's FORTUNoff...they don't call it that without reason trust me.
and yes - there ARE people that pay that much for that stuff. My father was SO excited to show me his new patio umbrella when he got it. It only cost him $1999 at Fortunoff and it was on sale! omgsqueeeeeeee....
the same umbrella could be found at Linen's N Things for $599...I kid you not cause I went with my sister in law 3 weeks after the discussion with my dad and she bought one - she wanted me to go to see if I thought it was the same one.
It was.

Fortunoff sales CAN be really really good but you have to know your prices

so where can a partially insane person with a modest budget buy patio stuff that won't make me break the vault?

Home Depot, Walmart, Wegman's *surprisingly enough!* or look on Craig's list and see who's selling one, especially now - people are selling everything to try to keep their head's above water

Target has nice stuff too and so does Lowe's. Keep in mind if you buy at Lowe's or HD that you can get a year interest free financing too on their cards - not a bad deal when you do the math cause you can get a nicer set than you thought without blowing a budget out the window

Yikes!

On the other hand think of all the million dollar homes there are in the area, look at all the BMW's and Mercedes cars around. Lots of people have or HAD disgusting amounts of money.

Yikes! That is two orders of magnitude higher than what I would pay for a table. Then again, I got all my furniture from office supply stores and from salvaging discarded furniture at work, so it is clear that I have no taste.
