I want to see the Grand Canyon also.

For getting in to an exercise routine that you actually WANT to do, have you tried/considered gamification?

Here's one resource, I'm sure there are others.

yeah I tried a walking app... it lasted about 4 weeks.... I'm not very competitive so game type things don't tend to work very well with me.

I enjoy walking but not enough that I want to go heaps. I need to just force myself and be disciplined until that point where if I don't go, I feel crap, therefore I'll want to go!

I go to yoga Monday night, swim Thursday nights and would like to do something a bit more fast paced eg zumba once a week.... unfortunately though it's all things that cost money, which adds to me justifying not going that week, so i'm often skipping. I try really hard not to skip two weeks in a row though. I think my mental state has a lot to do with how easily I wag things. Exercise would help this - vicious cycle!

I'll get there eventually, I'm much better when there is no uni looming or other life stressors....

Yeah, when you're able to make a push towards building a new routine, you may have better luck in making it stick. One more suggestion then, you may find the Jerry Seinfeld motivation method interesting. I haven't used it, but after reading about it I've kept it in mind as something I might try in the future.

That might just work! I was thinking I need to start walking but not put a distance goal in. So long as I get up and go, even round one block, then do sit ups & push ups, I can put a big red x on the calendar in the toilet :) I'm going to give that one a go!
