Jess- This is Raggy Q Poo from the BWW forum. You said that it was going to be long and take a while reading. Well, I was soo into it, and it did take me about 7-8 minutes and I hadn't even realized it. I finally came to the end and was trying to scroll down more but....there was no more. It may have been a long entry to type, but it sure was not a long entry to read, nor was it the least bit boring. It sounds absolutely terrific and I would love to do such a thing. Would you do it again? I told my mom about it and she she I was nuts and gave me millions of reasons I shouldn't. We can discuss that later but none-the-less...what a wonderful experience you had! Just reading the entry, I know you will never ever forget that journey and what a great way to help others, it sounds like it made a huge difference and it gave you a new perspective on life.

No question I would do it again. I would jump at the chance. And as for millions of reasons not to do it, I can give you way more reasons you should. If she's worried about safety, I can tell you that there was only one time I felt unsafe--and that was w/the elephants, and looking back, there's no way anything could have happened. I really hope you do end up doing this, it's an awesome experience.

Jess,

So glad that you finally posted, I was worried for a second that you might not have time to do the update post. I only had time to briefly scan it right now and of course be lazy and look at the pics, and from what I read it sounds like you said "amazing". I want to actually read this when I have time to really take it in, since it seems like such a great organization that you went with and such a great experience, so I will come back and read it when I have more time. For now I just wanted to thank you for the update!!

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I'd get around to it or not. Look how long it's taken me just to respond to this. Life is fucking crazy! I do want to know what you think after you've actually read it.

Hey Jess,

I had some extra time, so I was finally able to come back and throughly read your post!!!

Wow-this is such a great extension of the e-mails!! I did not realize the intensity of what you were actually trying to accomplish there! Those questions that you said the kids were asking are heart-breaking to read I can not imagine actually being there and looking them eye-to-eye and needing to provide them with an answer.

Such a serious issue it is hard to even grasp the concept or magnitude of how things must be there, since I live such a sheltered life here, but like you said in your post when you hear that it is some of their "dreams" to live in America, it certainly puts everything into perspective!!

Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us, it certainly has made me think about things that I would not have without reading this!!

And thanks for reading it! I know--who really goes to Africa? It's still pretty surreal in my mind. My director said it doesn't hit you for a few months, so we'll see. I hope all is well with you!

I know I'm a million years behind on this but what an amazing experience this seems to have been, Jess. It truly is amazing how we take all we have here for granted.

Also, I recently saw a documentary about kids in Africa that were left orphaned by AIDS and I just about bawled for the entire hour and a half. For you have to have seen kids sleeping on streets and things just blows my mind.

What a life changing experience and you did an amazing thing for sure.

Love the photos too, especially the one with all of the hands in a pile together!
