Is Cold Stone Creamery the one where they sing while they make your ice cream or am I getting mixed up? Anyway, there *is* an ice cream chain in Japan where they sing as they make the ice cream, but it may or may not be CSC, though I have heard of that.... ;__;~~ *confused*

Aha "Family Viking" - it was a buffet, let me guess? For some weeeeiiird reason that I dont even know, the Japanese loan word for a buffet style eatery is "viking" Cos you eat a lot like a Viking? Apparently - or so my old host mum told me; no idea if that's true or not....

Glad you have fun. Glad it's not just me that thinks shopping in Japan is a bit different and somehow a little bit stressful. I too have problems identifying stores at a glance, lol. It's somehow just...different.

Yeah, I know that "viking" refers to buffet. But still, the idea of "family viking" (family restaurant x buffet, I guess) amused me, so I took the picture more for my friends/family who wouldn't have the cultural knowledge to just go, "oh, well, it's a buffet..."

Yeah, CSC is the one where they sing. This place had no singing. Just the lady making the ice cream giving running commentary. And I hear there actually is CSC in Japan, but I liked this place even better <3

I'm trying to remember when/where i sampled CSC in Japan, might have been Shibuyo station?? Anyway we have nothing remotely similar in UK so it was deffo a novel experience!

Somehwere i have a photo my Dad took in a 100Yen shop in Japan of an item labelled "Family Saw" - it was a saw, as in for your toolbox. FOr sawing families!!?? Anyway, it tickled my Dad's funny bone and guess it goes quite well with "Family Viking" too!
