Well that's messed up. Tuition is less for graduates? I thought it was always more wherever you go. Normally, graduates take less classes though so it evens out that way.

I don't know how it works at your school, but here scholarships are for undergraduates and fellowships are for graduates (but they are a lot more particular and complicated). And I'm not sure about grants, but know we can get tuition waivers and loans as long as we are in school (no matter if you are a graduate or undergraduate). I thought this was a federal system so it would be the same across the country.

I won't technically be a graduate student because I won't be in a program - I'm finishing undergraduate work. It's messed up. I'm going to be billed $500ish a credit for 12 credits. Plus housing. The federal system is what's making me graduate. 124 credits + all major requirements fulfilled = college diploma.

Strange. Then again, most people do need to go through strange things to finnish college. College isn't as simple as High School where all you need to do is take classes. Unfortunately there is a system you have to go through that has plenty of imperfections and technicalities. Bla!

Just to clarify, this is all compared to graduating next May? And you can't split up the classes and take 12 fall semester and 6 or so spring semester?

Yes and no. I have to finish my major and minor and take the last education class in the fall and then student teach in the spring. That's 16 credits in the fall and 12 in the spring. So I'll be done credit wise and done with my major in December, hence diploma. I'll still be on campus for student teaching and I'll still walk with my class in May. It's an aggravating technicality.

Ach, the bureaucracy. You wonder how governments/school officials don't get lost themselves in their own red tape. :P
