So, I loooove The Walkmen even more now and I still appreciate Modest Mouse immensely. The Walkmen could rock it out and were amazing, while MM sounded a little thin sometimes. The problems of playing live, I suppose.
If The Walkmen had played Rue the Day, I would've died a blissful death. But, it was still fun.
I ran into a few personas that I recognized/knew:
Exhibit A: A couple of members from a local Redding band, Hand Clap Orchestra. I just stared, they're too cool for me to personally know them.
Exhibit B: Guy I always see around town, had a crush on him in high school, was also at concert. I did not say hi, because I am a shy one and didn't want to bother.
Exhibit CCCCC: I DID see snobby indie boy! But, I was taken unawares and the meeting surprised me. Now, of course, I'm subtlely scanning for him the whole time, but it's really-super crowded, so I feel our chance encounter will not happen. I tell Amy and Ryan I'm going to throw away my empty water bottle and search for a restroom, and of *course* that's when I walk by him. I would've walked right past him, too, had he not stopped me in mid-step with his vinyl The Walkmen's Bows + Arrows he had just purchased. *swoon*
Okay, minus the swoon, actually, because I realized he is just a guy, not a god that I should worship from afar. Yes, he is cute, but he is not so out of my league that I should feel achy or sad, you know? And, he made more than a decent effort to talk to me (how long, I dunno, a few minutes? Or so?), *and* he emailed me his longest letter yet only a day after our encounter.
I was talking about this encounter with my sister, and hopefully this means he's cool about the friends thing, because that's the impression I got. But, I also have the impression that he likes girls to pine after him when he's not interested. I am not too keen on that, so I'm a bit wary. Time will tell.
I'm hungry, and I'm playing pinochle with the family later tonight. So, I may update again tomorrow instead of... well, now. Until then!
