To NaNoWriMo or not to NaNoWriMo...

I'll admit it, I'm kind of terrified by the idea of having to write 50,000 words in a month because that's so not how I write. I'm more of the 'write a little bit, obsess over it for two weeks and then write a little bit more' type of person. Then again, maybe that means that it'd be good for me ( Read more... )

NANO NANO NANO! AHHH :D

well there's the best friend's brother (usually with some best friend is a backstabbing bitch) lol...

then there's the drunken wedding hook up

then there's the boss...

there's so many of them out there, and I must say: you pull them all off flawlessly ;)

I love your chant, I'm pumped now!

Best friend's brother scares me a little, because I hate the idea of messing about with a friendship. And because my best friend has two brothers and the idea of hooking up with either of them gives me the heebie jeebies!

Drunken wedding hook up seems to be a theme and I'm currently churning that through my brain and matching it up with the best friend...

Ooh, the boss, there's something to bear in mind too.

You're so lovely, thanks for your vote of confidence!

ooooh I love the idea of the drunken wedding hookup. And a twist on the best friend's brother could be a good male friend's brother/best friend?

Then there's always the vacation hookup too....

I can't wait to see (read) what you come up with! I absolutely adore all of your stories.

Hmm, I think where this wedding idea has gone in my brain is a bit different than everyone else is thinking. Oh well, it might be a surprise then!

Oh my, best male friend's brother, I like that! I think I'll have to bear that in mind for another time, though, because I'm pretty sure I've picked my cliche now.

Thank you so much for saying like reading my stuff, it really is just the coolest thing to hear!

I still need to read the latest chapter to see what Max and Charlie have been up to...I've been busy with real life. Since everyone seems to be leaning towards something wedding themed, what about a marriage of necessity...some situation forces an unlikely couple to get married and then they fall in love.

I totally get being too busy to read Lighthouse Charlie, for a while there I was too busy to write it!

I've always wanted to do a drunken hook up and end up married story, but I'm not sure if I'd find an original take on it. Definitely something to bear in mind, though. Although I think I've decided what I'll do now.

Thanks for your reply.

Oh, I kinda like the drunken hook up. What about drunken marriages? Possibly no prenups. Large families. "It was a good idea at the time." kinda thing.

If I could put in a request, could you make it more local? I love learning about Australian quirks since Americanized stuff is so dime-a-dozen.

..and, what? Last chapter of Lighthouse Charlie? That was too quick!

Now I feel bad because everyone's well keen on the drunken hook up and I'm moving away from it slightly. Definitely at some stage I'd like to give that cliche a go, it's always looked like fun to write.

Ooh, love requests. How do you mean more local, though? I promise I've been throwing in Australian cliches at every turn! I like that you've enjoyed the Aussie stuff, I don't really know how to write any other way!

I'm not a fan of dragging out stories for no real reason. I don't really have much more to give Charlie and Max (even though I love them to bits!). I promise the last chapter is gaggingly sweet, though!

Never feel bad! We're just offering suggestions as readers because you asked. It's your story in the end! Write what you want to write!

Local as in food, words, sayings, etc. It's fascinating. I still get a kick every time I you say "root" instead of "fuck".

Hurrah, no feeling bad. And I do honestly love the suggestions.

Righto, I'll make sure to have the usual Aussie stuff in the next story. Glad to have introduced the word 'root' to you, oh what a contribution I've brought to the world!

I've been addicted to fairytale rewrites ever since I discovered Ella Enchanted. I'd be really interested to see where you went with a fairytale re-write. Like Sleeping Beauty or Mulan. The stories I've read by you have been strictly real world, so maybe fairytales aren't something you normally write about. Anyway, it's just an idea. Good luck on NaNo!

Or some story with the mafia involved? Those are always pretty silly and fun to read/write.

Oooh, fairytale! I'm such an idiot, I should have known that every single suggestion would make my brain spark and I'd get all interested. I've definitely decided on my cliche, but I'll keep your suggestions in mind. I love Ella Enchanted, Sleeping Beauty and Mulan. You're right, I write very 'real world' stuff, it'd be good for me to try something else sometime.

I do have a story that involves, not the mafia exactly, but kidnapping and guns and all sorts of dramatic action things so hopefully I'll get round to writing that soon.

Cheers so much for replying and wishing me luck, you rock!

I guess I messed something up when I thought you started writing Lighthouse Charlie for Nano?

I started writing LC midway through January and wanted to see what I could get done in a month (ie, until midway through Feb). It wasn't official NaNo at all, but I said it was my own personal NaNo which is where I might have confused people. This is my first actual go.
