i haven't done a russia post in a while, but luckily, the new yorker is picking up my slack (i.e. writing another article for me to link to).
this one's about gary kasparov, perhaps the greatest chess player ever and the leader of the political opposition in a country where political opposition regularly carries a death sentence.
this article isnt as morbid as the last one (which focused on the death of a prominent opposition journalist), but it has its chilling moments and remains absolutely fascinating.
