i watch the watchmen

went this afternoon to see the much-anticipated watchmen. i have to say i was most surprised by the number of families bringing young children to see this movie. i guess a lot of people just don't realize what they're getting into before they go out to the movies and probably assumed this'd be just another superhero movie. oh well. in case you were ( Read more... )

i'm with you, mr beller. i agree that the acting was mostly serviceable, if that, with the exception of rorschach and the comedian, who i thought were spot on. visually beautiful, for sure, and the ending makes more sense than the book's. i don't think it connected emotionally the way it aimed to- i doubt i'd care very much for the characters had i not read the book. (the exception is rorschach's final scene, which almost made me tear up a little).

worth watching for me, though, if only for the fantastic look.

I saw this on midnight of opening night. Too long, too much sex, too much violence, but I loved Dr. Manhattan. I kept looking at his blue thing, but that didn't bother me. Everything he said was pretty cool. I was kind of...altered.

if you havent, you should read the book. its outrageously good, and the sex and violence balance with the whole much more harmoniously. you get to learn a lot more about all the characters, including dr. manhattan and his i-percieve-all-time-at-once thing. it's also one of the most fantastically well-told stories i've ever read.
