Furries WTF? Utterly confused....

One of the things that i've seen and has came to my attention while being stuck here is all the different cultures and communities that have sprung up on the internet. I cannot for the life of me understand the concept of 'Furries'. They keep springing up everywhere, I go, even on JTV ( Read more... )

I can't see how people could get off on that sort of thing either, but that's the beauty (and comedy in this case) in it huh?

First off....have you ever heard the saying "sex sells"?

That is what the media has done with Furry, the have portrayed the sexual side of things that a very small percentage are involved in. There are a lot of Furries that are not into that, that are straight, christian, good people. Sex is also part of life that everyone loves to dig into. Just look at things like the "Tail Hook Affair" issues that have happened with the Shriners at conventions and lots of other groups. You are taking this as gospel just by what you see in the media. It would be the same thing as people assuming you were doing time for a sex crime without getting all the facts and just making an assumption.

I work with several different charities and have raised in excess of $100k for charities such as Tiger Haven, American Red Cross along with many others. I do volunteer work in a variety of avenues as well.

So please don't assume just as you don't want people to assume about you

Hi, thank you for your comment.
If i was doing time for a sex crime, I don't think I would be doing it from home somehow.
Okay, if it's not a fetish or a sexual thing, why in the blue earth would grown, adults want to play at being cartoon characters in bugs bunny suits? I just don't get it?

Whats the difference of those into other fantasy play?

Dominant/submissive play?
French maid outfits
Leather
Uniforms
Nurses outfit
and yes even clown suits

It's all roleplay. Stepping away from your life even for a bit to break up the monotony. There are so many variations this is just one of them. It's not hurting anyone

There are things you might like that others think are weird sexual or not. Does it make it not ok just because someone else doesn't get it even thought you enjoy it? Take hunting for a good example...it's not for everyone...you have those that live for the first day of hunting season and yet others see it as barbaric.

I thought you said it wasnt sexual? now you're comparing it to other fetishes. I dont understand why clown suits would be a turn on either?
When hunting, I only kill animals that I will eat.

Yeah hey- do you mind taking me off your list? I mean if you really super-duper badly WANT to watch me for some unknown reason that's fine- you just won't see much from me as everything I post these days is generally under a filter. Also, based on this entry here, I won't be reading much of you.

No offense or anything- I (sort of) understand your predicament, but my life isn't here to entertain ANYONE, even you. And if you added me ONLY because of my associations with furry, even the slightest perusal of my profile page SHOULD have indicated to any relatively perceptive person that the description you've given here does not fit me (and ergo, not EVERYONE involved in some way in that fandom.)

Thanks.

Kay. Thanks for being grown up about this and respecting my request. I guess that's what the ban function here on LJ is for.

Peace out.
