Party planning

I'm going to throw my parents this anniversary party on their actual anniversary, which is a Sunday, in the afternoon. Talked to our friend who is the president of their co-op apartment building (all filled with family friends as well) said she'll check the date, and be my co-host, so I don't have to pay for the room or anything. Just a suggestion--when I did my parents' 50th, I went through their house and mine and found all the little vases, perfume bottles, cups and saucers, every little piece of china or glass that had a touch of gold on it--an Avon swan bottle with a gold crown, for instance, or a gold-rimmed china bud vase. I scattered those on the tables with tea lights. And on every table I had a box or a tray or a tin or something with a handful of pictures of my parents and their friends. The pictures were the biggest hit. We held it at the church that my dad helped build, physically, and my mom and the other wives made lunches and helped as they could, when my folks were in their late twenties. People in the church had known them that far back and many of them were in the pictures, too. People still talk about that party, mainly because of the pictures. I had the portrait they'd had taken just before their anniversary, and I had one of them when they were dating enlarged and cleaned up. Thanks! The pictures are a great idea -- it's going to be casual and outside, so I need to figure out how tables and etc. will work, but I'll definitely have framed pictures of them through the years around.
