Haha one of the favorite chants at the Cornell-Harvard hockey game is "Grade Inflation"... cause we have a rep for way less inflation... which is why we have a rep for lots of fail-outs... it's definitely not easy! But all the kids have never failed at anything before, and most of them aren't about to start, especially b/c of the $$ involved
( ... )
P.s. the actual, matters-in-the-long-run problem with grade inflation is that Harvard/Yale/Princeton accept a tooooon of legacy students - sometimes up to 40% - and there's no way for people to work really, really hard and stand out, which means connections have a disproportionate influence in job offers... which completely undermines meritocracy, and especially sucks for minorities.
you teach me so much :)jesseutJanuary 27 2006, 02:43:10 UTC
