I agree, I think she was obsessed with him to a certain degree in season 6. It's the only thing that really explains why she would be so conflicted over the whole thing - because her feelings scared her. Yet she kept on running back to him again and again. In the back of her mind, she probably kept reminding herself "he's evil", which is why she couldn't come to fully accept their relationship or let herself trust him unconditionally like she did in season 7. Because of her own limitations, really. Plus, I think that Spike was definitely capable of love while souless (and I HATE those people who claim he was only ever obsessed with her - grr, so not true...), but that it took getting his soul back to learn truly unconditional love, and to start doing the right thing simply because it's RIGHT, without needing another reason. And that is kind of the main point of this book, about Spike coming to terms with himself, mostly
( ... )
Yeah I heard about that... I think it'll be pretty cool. Though I don't know that much about the Superman comics so I'm not quite sure who Brainiac is, but I do like Smallville (except I didn't watch the last season - I better start getting caught up again, lol)

No problem :-) I was so glad this book wasn't another typical BTVS novel, because I've definitely read one too many "B/A is forever" and "Spike is nothing but evil" stories (*coughs*Nancy Holder*coughs*) LOL So I'm happy there's actually a pro-spike book now! *Does snoopy dance* :D ~Jessica
Well done, jessica,/b. Very good review. I enjoyed Spark & Burn as well, and I think you covered most of the high points of the story. I'm with you--a sequel, please! We need plenty more Spikey goodness made avaiable for our reading pleasure.
lol. Thanks :-) Yeah I'm so glad there's finally a pro-spike novel out there - it's definitely about time! A sequel would be awesome - maybe we could flood the author with fanmail requesting that she write one. lol. Just a thought :D ~Jess
