What fun!! Oh, I love it! I played Russian Scrabble in college... MUCH harder. Seriously. You usually don't have enough letters to spell words!! :) So we all failed miserably, but it was still fun. Totally jealous. Sad, but true!

Russian and Greek are related somewhat I think ... and I've considered playing Greek scrabble several times and been daunted by the idea even without the thought of having to rally enough people to play with me. Props for attempting it with Russian! How much did/do you speak?

I have a double major in Russian and International Studies, but I don't speak as much any more. It's very frustrating. I haven't used it really in years so lost alot.

And the Cyrillic alphabet has 1/3 of it's letters from the Greek alphabet which is why they seem related. The first prince to bring together Russia into a conglomorate country was from the Byzantine and was Orthodox so religion was introduced and the languages blended together.
