No 'poo Day 4

Aug 22, 2010 13:54

So far, I've used the baking soda/apple cider vinegar routine twice: Thursday night and Saturday morning. I skipped a shower altogether on Friday because I was up late. I will probably do the routine again tonight. But I have to say it: my hair looks kind of fantastic. It hasn't looked greasy at all. If I look reeeeally closely, I think maybe I can ( Read more... )

to answer one of your facebook questions, I wear a shower cap for showers where I don't wash my hair. When he saw it hanging in my bathroom, one of my guy friends remarked, "Oh, Jen, you're 29 going on 70."

I do the same thing. My son came over one day, saw my shower cap hanging in the bathroom and asked why my grandmother showered here. (I'm only 42) Smartass. ;)

Whenever I see someone posting about this no 'poo stuff, I worry for their bowels.

Cool! I wonder if I can get apple cider vinegar in Morocco? I saw a lot of people selling some kind of brown vinegar, but I don't know what it's made with. Oh, and I'd also have to figure out where to get baking soda (if I can get it at all).

Did you say one can do this shampoo-free thing even if one uses product in one's hair?

I have read a zillion articles so far, so I can't find sources, but I believe I read that if you can't stand apple cider vinegar, you can use lemon juice. Presumably if you can't find it, this is also an appropriate substitute. Or anything else similar. Maybe white vinegar, or something else acidic. And you can add a few drops of essential oil. I added lavender to my bottle last night. It didn't overpower the scent of the vinegar, but I smelled a pleasant hint of lavender later.

I have also read that you can do this even if you use product. Just comb as much out as you can before you wash.

Also, I have totally thought of you on various points of this experiment. I am surprised to have done this before you!
